1. Symptoms/Definitions
ADHD affects 12% of children in the US, 5% in the UK and 11% in Australia. Classrooms usually include at least one disruptive ADHD child.
ADD and ADHD can cause unfocussed and disruptive behaviors. These lead to bad school marks, split families and a troubled community. Unless dealt with, the future could be low paid jobs, or even prison.
Types of ADHD are Inattentive, Hyperactive, Impulsive, and Attention Deficit.
ADD (Attention Deficit Disorder) is considered a certain type of ADHD, as is Hyperactivity of Childhood, and Hyperkinetic Reaction of Childhood.
1. Definitions of Inattentive
Careless work, difficulty sustaining attention, seems not to listen, fails to finish tasks, disorganized in tasks and activities, avoids tasks needing attention, losing things, easily distracted from tasks, forgetful in daily activities.
2. Definitions of Hyperactive
Excessively runs or climbs, restlessness feelings in adolescents or adults, unduly noisy in tasks or playing, "on the go" all the time, talks quickly and/or excessively, cannot sit still, leaves seat when being seated is expected, fidgets with hands or feet or squirms on seat.
3. Definitions of Impulsive
Interrupts and intrudes, answers before someone finished asking something, does things without thinking of consequences, fails to wait in lines or turns in games or groups, talks excessively without social restraint.
4. Definitions of Attention Deficit
Day dreamy, hypoactive, lethargic, learning disabled in academic achievement.
